A. GET THE INFORMATION YOU NEED TO MAKE A DECISION ON HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR 2014.

Starting in 2014, the Affordable Care Act levies penalties on individuals who do not have health insurance
coverage.

Many policies have been cancelled, requiring individuals to either go onto the exchanges to purchase a
policy, or shop for a new policy. Tax credits for low income taxpayers are only available if bought through the
exchanges. Individuals not eligible for tax credits have more freedom to shop for replacement policies. They
are not required to go through the exchanges.

As of the end of October, the operation of the exchange websites is questionable in terms of taking registrations
and safeguarding your personal information. It makes sense to confine your efforts to just gathering the
information to make an informed decision rather than spending time trying to register and make a purchase.
Individuals with pre-existing conditions that have been paying high amounts for coverage will be subsidized.
Just because an existing policy can be renewed does not mean it should be kept. There may be a cost advantage
to shifting to a new policy.

There is a high probability that many small group policies will be cancelled after 2014. It will be in your best
interest to get educated on the alternatives now
