During his life, Karl Friedrich Hieronymus Freiherr von Munchausen (1720-1797) was
known as a teller of tall tales. He was so well known for this that European authors
took folktales that had been in existence for centuries and packaged them into collections
as the Adventures of Baron Munchausen.
Over 100 different editions of these stories exist.
A recent interpretation of these tall tales is by Charles McKeown and Terry Gilliam in
a film adaptation “The Adventure of Baron Munchausen.” (available on DVD)
